Dear South Park Soccer Association Travel Players, Parents and Families,
First and foremost, we hope everyone is well and staying safe. These are unprecedented times and we realize that soccer may be the furthest thing from your minds. However, we value transparency and wanted to provide an update on the current status and plans for the Spring 2020 Travel season.
Along with continuously monitoring updates from Pennsylvania state leadership, we have also been in close contact with PA West, the governing body for soccer in Western Pennsylvania. At this point in time, it is PA West’s hope to begin the Spring 2020 season in June if possible. However, a final decision has not been made and if social distancing guidelines are still in place during that period Travel soccer will not resume. Additionally, if PA West can begin the Spring 2020 season, each member association will be able to make its own decision to participate or not. Again, no decisions have been made and this is an extremely fluid situation. We will continue to monitor developments and provide updates to you.
Whether the Spring 2020 season is able to take place or not, the South Park Soccer Association Board of Directors has made several decisions based on the information available.
- Registration for the 2020-2021 Travel seasons has been postponed until June 1st.Registration was originally scheduled to begin on April 13th, but as our South Park families focus on other priorities, we felt it was best to postpone.
- Travel evaluations are cancelled.Due to the potential for the season to begin in June or not at all, it was necessary to identify alternatives at this point in time. Team formation for the 2020-2021 Travel seasons will be addressed by the Board of Directors with input from the coaches of each current Travel team.
