Fall 2020 In-House and Academy Season Information

Soccer families,

The in-house soccer season will be underway in no time. In-house registration will be closing on Sunday, August 1st at 11:59 PM. We will take new player registrations after that, however spots could be limited. So please register your player before the registration portal shuts down so, please sign up on our website through your account.

The SPSA in-house age group commissioners will start forming teams this week and will be getting uniforms ordered as well. If you have not volunteered to coach a team and would like to do so, please sign up on our website through your account that you used to register. It takes the entire membership of the SPSA to make a soccer season successful. This fall our plan is to reopen our concession stand. This will be an assigned parent duty along with our other parent duties including field set up and take down, parking lot duty, etc.

The SPSA Board of Directors is proud to announce that we will be providing all of our coaches with paid access to the MOJO coaches app this year. This is an innovative app that helps plan soccer practices with age appropriate materials and also provides the coach with the right instructional points for each activity. This app also shows video demonstrations of how the activities are supposed to look.

In mid to late August you will be hearing from your coach with team assignments and more details about the season. In-house soccer teams will start practicing the week of August 30th and they will begin playing their game schedule on Saturday September 11th.

For our Academy soccer players and families (birth years 2016-2017), you will begin your Academy training and play sessions on Saturday, September 11th and will train and play every Saturday until October 30th. After considering feedback from some parents, the Academy will not be starting as early in the morning as we have in the past. Starting in the fall, the Academy (U5/U6) programs will begin at 9:30am. Exact time of each age group is TBD. Last year was our first year of running the U5/U6 Academy program. The program was run mainly by board members with some parent volunteers. This year we would like to increase parent involvement by turning the program over to parent “coaches” with board guidance. We will be providing a curriculum to be used that we developed based off of last year’s Academy. Any parent who is interested in volunteering with the Academy program, please go to our website and sign up to volunteer in this age group through your account that you used to register.

August 25-26: Field set-up (Evan’s Field) (Time TBD)
August 28: Soccer Appreciation Day/Coaches Game (Evan’s Field)
August 30: Start of in-house practice (Middle School)
September 11: Start of in-house season (Evan’s Field)
September 18: Community Day (In-house games played at South Park Oval)
October 30: End of in-house season
